Steamrolling Cloud Adoption Obstacles with CloudSigma 2.0

When CloudSigma was founded as a pure-cloud IaaS provider in 2009, much of its value proposition centered around dispelling common gripes companies had with the existing public cloud platforms. This included everything from restrictions placed on application and operating system deployments to inefficient pricing packages and bundled resources. Now, four years later, we’re continuing to knock down common barriers to public cloud adoption, this time with the launch of CloudSigma 2.0 .

A common barrier that still persists in the public cloud market is around data security. Despite the flexibility, accessibility and cost-saving benefits of the public cloud, security fears continue to keep 50 percent of companies grounded in their on-premise environment. To address this, CloudSigma 2.0 includes an industry-first breakthrough to quell public cloud security issues: direct private patching. By allowing customers to directly connect their infrastructure to their public cloud vLANS all over private IP connectivity, not only is data more secure, but on-premise deployments can be exactly mirrored in the cloud appearing on the same network subnet for premiere data portability and a seamless hybrid experience. The direct connection capabilities needs no VPN allowing full line speed and low latency to be achieved.

Beyond this, CloudSigma 2.0 offers a number of exciting new features, many of which have already seen customers experiencing 30 percent plus performance increases over their cloud infrastructure deployments:

  • Disaster-Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS): With the direct private patching capability, not only is data portability more streamlined, but customers are granted instant access to and recovery of data in the event of an outage or disaster. What’s more, because sensitive company information is no longer traveling over a public IP necessarily, data is much better protected against cyber-attacks, data leakage and malicious hacking.
  • All-SSD, high-erformance storage: By incorporating all solid-state drive (SSD) storage, I/O bottlenecks and CPU wait time are eliminated for the highest levels of speed and stability.
  • Advanced CPU options for better application performance: We already offer resources on a utility basis and place no restrictions on VM sizes. Now, with CloudSigma 2.0, we incorporate advanced CPU options as well as full CPU instruction set exposure. These advanced CPU options include CPU and full non-uniform memory access (NUMA) visibility, hypervisor timer settings and virtual core size control. With this, customers can seamlessly meet any application requirements and reflect them in their cloud infrastructure. The result is much higher price/performance levels and cookie cutter clouds.
  • SDN support: With full SDN support, customers can network cloud private networks directly onto physical customer lines without the need for a VPN, offering very high network throughput with low latency.

With data security fears out of the way, companies can charge full-speed ahead, leveraging the cloud for DRaaS, high-performance computing and much more!

Happy computing,
